Stationary

BASE demonstration methodology distinguishes Four Use Case (UC) Pilots.

Each of these pilots aim to validate the BASE Digital Battery Passport (DBP) functionality.

General Objectives for each Pilot

  • Establish secure and reliable access to federated DBP infrastructure
  • Leverage DBP capabilities by providing systematic immutable data inputs to DBP
  • Validate transparency, accuracy, and reliability of battery indicators estimation methods
  • Synchronise DBP data provisions with a realistic product development lifecycle
  • Adopt interoperable data sharing among value network members
  • Provide real physical data needed for circularity index tuning, ESGE analysis and business impact analysis

U C 4 – Stationary

2nd-life electric energy storage production

Industry: Stationary Energy Storage, 2nd-life repurpose of EV batteries

Product details: BeePlanet builds stationary energy storage (ES) systems from 2nd-life batteries of EVs. It has specific supply agreements with several automotive OEMs (original equipment manufacturers). Healthy and capable 2nd-life batteries used in BeePlanet’s product line are directly supplied from OEMs in disassembled form. BeePlantet declares that repurposed batteries are capable of 2500-3000 cycles.

Battery details: BeePlanet battery packs are built around NMC chemistry (prismatic configuration). The custom-made BMS runs an advanced Kalman Filter. The SoH calculation is based on the data stored in BeeCloud. Starting with 80 kWh per EES rack, each rack can be expanded using modules connected in parallel, up to 30 racks total, with a maximum EES capacity of 1 MWh.

Pilot focus: Entire BASE solution will be tested for 2nd-life and EOL application. Priority focus goes to physical integration to the factory floor processes, for validating automated ID, barcode interfaces and cost-optimised BP provision (cell-batch-ID). Strong focus goes to refinement of SoX indicators with aged and 2nd-life battery data, safety-data, as well as real inputs to ESGE and LCA calculations.
