BASE stands for Battery Passport for Resilient Supply Chain and Implementation of Circular Economy. The main goal of the BASE project is to develop, validate and implement a working DBP service, as mandated by the “Regulation” (also known as the EU Battery Regulation), by exploiting the collected data via number of constantly evolving tools and methods, to ensure transparent, secure, and cost- efficient platform operation, by also catalysing the growth of circular businesses.
Digital Battery Passport (DBP) is a trailblazing technology unlocking innovation in sustainability, bridging the gap for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Value Chain stakeholders through data- driven insights for traceability, transparency, and regulatory compliance.
The European Commission requires the introduction of digital product passports as part of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). For batteries specifically, from February 2027, all batteries over 2kWH placed on the EU market must have a Battery Passport.
BASE is a 36-month or 3-year Project starting from 1 June 2024 till 31 May 2027.
